Electronics Waste Is A Growing Worldwide Problem

Americans spend several billion dollars each year on new electronics. Yet, this creates an ongoing problem of what will happen to the older electronics that the new ones replace? Will they end up in the owner’s closet collecting dust? Will they be recycled, or will they end up in the trash and then a landfill?

The article highlights that electronics waste is the world’s fastest-growing solid waste stream. The article also describes some efforts to help recycle this growing mountain range of discarded electronics.
